This is the Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast recipe our customers seem to love the most and its also the simplest, quickest and easiest of them all - win win! We get SO much positive feedback on it and receive lots of great comments and questions regarding it... as well as tons of social media posts telling us how much people are enjoying it - which we LOVE! So after much request we've written the recipe down and here's it is!
Here at Sari Foods headquarters this is our favorite go to healthy snack, it's great for those in-between meal snack attacks and is perfect for bagging up and transporting in your lunch box or bag for any snack related emergency. Its a low sodium salted popcorn substitute for all those that need it which also means its a great family option for movie night.
Our Nutritional Yeast (A.K.A Nooch) is great source of protein (containing all 18 essential amino acids), a multitude of different minerals and a natural vitamin B-complex and Beta-glucans (know for their extreme immune enhancing abilities and their ability to lower bad cholesterol). Using our non-fortified option to make this popcorn recipe not only eliminates the bad stuff found in the packaged, store bought or movie theatre popcorn varieties but it sure adds a whole lotta goodness too!
Ingredients: Makes one huge bowl!
2 tbsp Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast
1 cup organic popcorn kernels
8 tbsp Organic Olive Oil
Optional: sea salt to taste
Place a large pan on a medium heat with 1 tbsp of the oil and 1-2 popcorn kernels. Leave the lid on the pan and wait for the kernels to pop. Once they do, its an indication that the pan is hot enough so add the rest of your kernels and add the lid back on the pot.
They shouldn't take too long to start popping but to speed up the process you can slightly angle the pan lid ajar. The odd shake of the pan may also help prevent and popcorn burning at the bottom.
Once all the corn has popped, turn the heat off and add the remaining oil, Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast and salt if required to the pan. Toss it all up until the coconut oil has melted.
Tip in to a large bowl (or several small ones) and enjoy while still hot - its the best!
