Sometimes you just need a bit of pampering, and it’s great to have an easy recipe handy for those moments when you do get a little bit of me-time. This face mask whips together in a flash, so you can spend more time treating your skin, and less time putting it together.
Made with just two ingredients, wheatgrass and honey, this face mask can help tone and rejuvenate, address free radicals that can lead to fine lines, and calm and soothe irritated skin.
Wheatgrass is great for your skin when consumed as a shot or in food, but our skin has an amazing ability to absorb nutrients from what we put on it as well. This means our skin can absorb the high quantities of antioxidants and chlorophyll, as well as vitamins A, E, and B12, that are all found in wheatgrass. Each of these nutrients plays an important role in skin health and can help keep your skin even, smooth, and radiant.
Antioxidants are well known for their ability to help support our cells against the effects of free radicals. Our bodies naturally produce these unstable molecules, but left unchallenged and in excess, free radicals can accelerate aging and lead to a multitude of health issues. When the body is exposed to toxins, air pollution, poor diet, injury, or stress, free radicals seek out other molecules and multiply. And when free radicals outnumber the naturally occurring antioxidants, the body’s delicate balance is disrupted.
Vitamins A and B12 are commonly added to a lot of skincare products for their abilities to support normal cell growth and reproduction, while vitamin E is much loved for its ability to nourish and moisturize the skin.
Honey is more than just an easy way to spread some powder on your face—or a delicious toast topping if that’s your usual use for it! We recommend picking up some organic raw honey as any pesticides or additives in your honey will also be absorbed into your skin, the same way the good nutrients are. Just like wheatgrass, honey is loaded with antioxidants and skin-nourishing nutrients, and it’s also highly moisturizing to help you deeply nourish your skin.
We love that this simple recipe with just two ingredients can provide your skin with so many essential vitamins and nutrients.
To make one mask you will need:
- 1 1/2 tsp raw honey
1 tsp Sari Foods Organic Wheatgrass Powder
- In a small bowl, mix the wheatgrass powder with raw honey and stir until well combined.
- Use a facial brush to apply the mask all over your face and neck.
- Be careful as once the honey starts warming up it may drip off your chin, so just have a small towel nearby to wipe up any mess.
- Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes—in the meantime, lie back and relax while you’re waiting.
- Wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry.
- Follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
- Repeat once or twice a week for bright, glowing skin.
