Chocolate Superfood Brownies

The long awaited, super yummy recipe for Sari Foods Superfood Chocolate Brownies is finally here!

Gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, and vegan and paleo friendly, these nutrient dense  chocolate treats are easy and fun to bake on a lazy Saturday afternoon, and are a delicious way to up your superfood intake (we promise little ones will not be able to keep their hands off!).

So put on an apron, and get the oven warming—you’re in for a healthy bite of chocolate heaven!

Ingredients:

For the brownies:

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp oat bran fiber
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • 3 Tbsp chia seeds
  • ¼ cup crushed blueberries
  • 3 Tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 grated carrots
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 4 Tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp pink himalayan salt

 For the Superfood Frosting:

For the brownies: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 355° fahrenheit. 
  2. Combine the rolled oats, almond flour, oat bran fiber, raw cacao powder, chia seeds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  3. In a blender combine the banana, almond milk, vanilla essence, and coconut oil and blend until smooth.
  4. Grate carrots and lightly mash blueberries with a fork.
  5. Add the grated carrots and mashed blueberries to dry ingredients.
  6. Pour in blended ingredients, and stir well to combine.
  7. Pour batter into a baking dish, place in oven, and bake for about 20 minutes.
  8. Remove baked brownies from oven and let cool completely before frosting.

 For the frosting: 

  1. Melt cacao butter and oil in a heatproof bowl on top of a saucepan of boiling water.
  2.  Once melted, remove from heat and stir in maple syrup, salt, and vanilla essence.
  3. Sift in the raw cacao powder, Sari Foods Natural Vitamin C Powder from Acerola Cherries and Sari Foods Organic Spirulina and whisk the mixture until smooth.
  4. Stir in Sari Foods Non-Fortified Nutritional Yeast and coconut cream.
  5. Allow frosting to cool before smoothing over the brownies.
  6. Cut frosted brownies into squares and enjoy—perfect with peppermint tea!
